Job Description:The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, equipment, and facilities. This role involves a wide range of tasks including troubleshooting, routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as a proactive approach to facility upkeep.
Essential Job Duties
- Ensure the proper and functioning operation of facility related items, such as, lights, restrooms, HVAC units, refrigeration units, dock doors, employee doors and other areas as needed
- Make all repairs or replacements following GMP guidelines and leaving your work area neat and clean
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, cleaning, and adjustments of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose and repair building systems and equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, ensuring timely resolution.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all building systems and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, and emergency lighting.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility, including common areas, restrooms, and exterior spaces.
- Perform minor carpentry, painting, and general building repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Monitor and manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for the procurement of necessary materials and services.
- Work closely with other team members and departments to support facility-related needs and projects.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of company events and meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned by management
Competencies and Skill Requirements
- Facility maintenance experience
- Familiar with lockout tag out procedure
- Ability to work in elevated or cramped areas and either hot or cold conditions
- Ability to do minor electrical, plumbing and HVAC tasks. Such as; changing ballasts in fluorescent light fixtures; changing out a faucet or toilet; replacing HVAC filters and cleaning coils
- Ability to safely use and operate hand and power tools
- Willingness to cross train in other areas of the facility to fulfill other assignments when needed
- Willingness to learn and adapt to maintenance procedure and have a strong work ethic
- Previous experience in the food production industry a plus
- Bilingual skills a plus
- Forklift certification a plus
- Willingness to work overtime and Saturdays
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems.
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS).
- Experience with energy management and sustainability practices.
Working Conditions:
- The role may require working in various environmental conditions, including hot, cold, or wet environments.
- The position involves standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
